The regular programs of the organization, the primary school, the hostel, evening coaching centers, the bio-farm, and museum activities went on normally. The major activities conducted in the month are given below:
1) Santal Barber: First among the Santhal of our area, Ram Tudu, an ex-student of RSV school has chosen hair cutting as a profession. He has opened a saloon in a hut covered with tin. Since he has no access to electricity inside the hut, during summers, he does his job under a tree outside the hut. A chair, a small mirror, scissors and a comb are the only capital he has. This seems like a small issue but a pioneering job for a Santal boy whose community has no history of adopting any profession for living other than agriculture and contractual labour.
2) Smokeless oven: Since RSV School has plenty of dry woods, smokeless oven has been installed to cook the lunchtime meals for the students and teachers.
3) Onion cultivation: This season the onion cultivation has been good in the school.
4) Youth Empowerment programme: This year, five candidates have been admitted to the Nursing course from the organization. They are pursuing the course from the Purnima Knowledge Centre, Bolpur. Panjak Mukherjee, the coordinator of the project, meets the individual students in their family along with their parents and motivates them to choose trade or career of their choice and guides them to achieve them. There is also a team of youth who meet regularly to evaluate their development.
5) Release of Santali book-Martin da’s book ‘Don’t let me down’ in Santali ‘Laluwak Kahini’ translated by Shibu Saren was released in the Department of Santali, Visva-Bharati University. On this occasion Martin da delivered a lecture on Translation literature. Students and Professors from different departments were present on the occasion. Dr. Dukhia Murmu, the head of the department, moderated the program.
6) Kick For Help: This month the boys team played two football matches with Suchana and Bidyadharpur at Ghosaldanga football ground.
After a few months of interval, the senior girls team of Kick for Help have resumed their football practice.
