Besides the regular programs of the organization, some major activities conducted this month are given below:
1) The third biggest festival of Santal ‘Dasai’ was celebrated in Ghosaldanga and Bishnubati. The dasai team of Bishnubati danced for around 300 families in seven villages in our area. The dasai dance is also called wandering dance, where the Guru (master) takes his Chela (disciples) to the countryside in search of their lost companions. In the family where the team dances, they are given rice and vegetables by the women of the family.
2) A one-night football penalty shoot tournament was held at Bishnubati. 32 teams from surrounding villages participated. The cash prize amount for the champion team was Rs. 7000/ and Rs. 5000/ for the runner up. During the tournament a song and dance program was organized by the youth of the village. The Pradhan of Kasba Gram panchayet (local self-government) inaugurated the program in the evening.
3) Hostel students began their mushroom project for the winter season. The mushrooms will be used for the midday meal of the school. Surplus production will be sold in the market.
4) An awareness program against alcoholism was organized at Ghosaldanga in collaboration with local police administration.
5) Kick for Help Girls’ team played a tournament at the Badelpur football ground where they became the champion.
