The month of February is a very hectic time for our organization. At the end of the financial calendar, the pressure remains to wrap up the program that has a deadline to complete the year. After annual school examinations and long festive holidays in January, teachers and students also try to begin their normal class routine in their educational centers. February is also the time when the members of Friends of Ghosaldanga and Bishnubati (FOGB) in Germany come for their annual visit to the organization. We are also organizing RSV students’ reunions during this time of the year. Teachers and students remain busy organizing the event.
This year, Stefan Kastner, the president of FOGB, visited us. In his ten-day stay in the organization, he visited all the educational centers, RSV schools, coaching centers, and evening schools in different villages. He also visited the museum, bio farm, and kick-for-help program. He gifted 26 footballs to the trainees of Kick for Help. Besides visiting the various projects, Stefan interacted with all the concerned parties about the projects. He also participated in a series of meetings with the trustee members, both in groups and individually. Marianne Pal Chowdhury and Debu Pal Chowdhury were also in Santiniketan in February and visited the school.
The reunion program was held on the 24th of February. Many former students of the organization, along with their family members, participated. As usual, the parents of the present students and the friends and well-wishers from Santaniketan also attended. Besides the lecture, dance, and music, a short play was staged by the students of Bishnubati, guided by senior student Paresh Saren. On this occasion, the website of the museum of Santal Culture was launched by Stefan. He also donated two laptops to the RSV school, which were received by Sanyasi Lohar and Anil Hembrom. Prof. Sushanta Dattagupta, the former vice chancellor of Visva-Bharati University, was the special guest, and Dr. Stefan Kastner was the main guest of the reunion program.
